Farm Raised Salmon – Just Say No

There has been much press lately as to the many harmful chemicals contained within farm-raised salmon. Things aren’t getting better for salmon farmers as the researchers of a newly published study are now recommending people not only limit their consumption of farm raised salmon, but possibly avoid eating it altogether. Because of the dioxin content of fish feed and the large amount they are fed in such a short period, farmed salmon contain extremely high levels of the toxic chemicals dioxin, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), toxaphene and dieldrin. According researchers, more than half of all salmon sold worldwide is farm raised. Researchers also warn that if salmon is not specifically labeled as “wild,” it has likely been farmed raised.
